Meet 5th Grade Teacher: Danielle McGuckin

mcguckinDanielle McGuckin, a Colorado native, was born in Aurora and grew up in Parker. While she spent a few years in Eugene, Oregon, her Colorado roots brought her back. She attended Ponderosa High School and went on to attend Metropolitan State College of Denver for her undergraduate degree in Behavioral Sciences. She recently completed her Masters in Teaching at University of Northern Colorado in Spring 2013. Danielle’s teaching career began with Science Matters in Colorado. She went on to open her own science enrichment company in Oregon called Science Time. She ran this company for four years before moving back to Colorado. She is very passionate about science!

Danielle met her husband Adam when they were teenagers and married on 07/07/07 at 7pm, her birthday is 07/17, see a pattern…she has a thing for the number 7! Adam was originally from Ohio and enjoys his career as a computer animation artist. His specialties range from computer animation, custom murals, logos or technology art.

Danielle is the proud mama of two little boys, Liam (age 5) and Max (age 3 ½). Liam will join the Sage Canyon family next year for kindergarten. If you are lucky enough to meet these little guys, they will introduce themselves and tell you that they are ‘best friends for life’. She is also the proud mama of two four-legged friends, Cooper and Jasper, a pair of Golden Retriever brothers that are just like the other kids in the house.

When Danielle is not busy teaching her 5th graders, she loves spending time in their cabin in Bailey. She is super close to her mom and loves spending her free time with family and friends. She loves cooking, reading non-fiction, swimming and napping. On fall weekends, you’ll hear her cheering for her Oregon Ducks or Denver Broncos.

This is Danielle’s second year teaching at Sage Canyon and her enthusiasm and energetic personality are infectious. She believes this energy helps keep students motivated to challenge themselves. If you haven’t had chance yet to introduce yourself, please say ‘hi’ and introduce yourself. We guarantee you’ll be drawn in by Danielle’s bubbly personality and walk away smiling.mcguckin2
