Boosterthon Fun Run

cmykSage Canyon’s first annual Boosterthon Fun Run was a huge success!

This fundraiser to benefit the school is so much more than just a run. The fundraiser kicked off with a Pep Rally. This year’s theme was Rock’n Town Live, a music festival theme all about community. The Boosterthon team spent the next two weeks at the school, leading students in character-building lessons that culminated with the Fun Run experience, where every student received a free, custom Sage Canyon spirit wear t-shirt.

Students and teachers joined in daily team huddles where they learned about each character lesson, participated in group fitness activities, and received prizes for the pledges they gathered from family, friends, and neighbors. Pledges could be per lap or flat donations and the school set a goal of $15,000 to be used for technology, innovative classroom furniture, and more.

In addition to helping the school, students helped to provide funds to local families in need through Boosterthon’s partnership with Our Military Kids. Our Military Kids provides financial support for military kids hoping to play a sport.

Then family and friends were invited to the school field on Wednesday, Oct. 8 to cheer on students as they ran the speedway with a goal of 35 laps.

Fun was the main focus as the music blasted and students ran, skipped, danced, and limbo’d around the track. Laps were marked off on the back of each shirt and totaled at the end of the run. There were lots of shirts with 35 marks!

Event organizers said they were very proud of the Sage Canyon students. They also thanked the teachers and staff for their help, the parents and family members who supported our runners, and everyone who sponsored the students.

Stay tuned for next month, where we’ll have an update on the total amount raised for our school!
